Alexis Ivec

Hi! I am Alexis

I'm using basic research to elucidate how disruptions in neural development can lead to pathological states. In short, my scientific interests span across molecular and systems neuroscience, and I am interested in understanding how molecular constituents and activity within the tumor microenvironment can lead to cancer progression and evolution. Outside of the brain, I am interested in how compassion and kindness can be used to better understand and improve the human condition.

Previously, I earned my Bachelor's in Human Biology (January 2022) at Stanford University, concentrating in neurobiology, biotechnology, and disease. Following graduation, I worked at Astellas Gene Therapies as a research associate within the Vector Biosciences division, working on developing therapies to treat rare genetic diseases. Nowadays, I am a life science research professional in the Monje Lab of Neurology and Neurological Sciences at Stanford University, studying how glioma leverage neurodevelopmental mechanisms to advance their own progression.

When not in the lab, I sing, dance, and make art.Â
